Pair Your Healthy Exercise Routine with an Energy Boosting Smoothie

Those who are trying to live a truly healthy lifestyle know that it isn’t all about healthy eating. Healthy exercising is also needed in order to strengthen muscle and bones, boost brain functioning, and promote the efficient processing of the various systems of the body.

Many doctors recommend at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day, such as walking, cycling, or jogging, but there are many other ways of healthy exercising. Taking a fitness class and signing up for the gym are two very popular methods. Training for an event, like a marathon, is another method, while taking up a new sport is another.

No matter what you choose to do, be sure your body can cope with the exercise by drinking some energy-boosting smoothies. These smoothies can be a refreshing after-workout drink or a great way to start your day!

1. Banana Chocolate Smoothie

  • Ingredients:
1 cup of frozen banana (cut into chunks)
    1 tsp. flaxeed oil
3 tbsp. 70% dark chocolate (cut into chunks)
    ½ cup soy milk

Take all the ingredients and mix it in your blender until smooth. You can choose to add ice to make it cold and refreshing, though the banana will already contribute to that.

Chocolate is an energy boosting ingredient. It’s also quite healthy as long as you stick to bars that are 70% cacao.

2. Apple-Cinnamon Smoothie

  • Ingredients:
1 cup frozen apple (cut into chunks)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    3 tbsp. almonds (whole)
    ½ cup apple juice

Take all the ingredients and mix it in your blender until smooth. Like the first recipe, you can choose to add ice to make it cold and refreshing. The great thing about this smoothie is that it tastes like apple pie! You can actually substitute the apple juice for milk if you’d like the full apple-pie effect.

Cinnamon is an herb that helps warm the body and boost energy. The almonds, which are also full of energy, also aids brain functioning!

Of the many methods of healthy exercising, taking up a new sport is one of the most rewarding. Not only do you have plenty of sports to choose from, but it is also socially rewarding because you stand to make a lot of new friends who will encourage you to be better at your sport. If you’re getting older, try taking up tennis, which is a great full body workout that helps flexibility while strengthening bones!
