5 Strawberry Banana Smoothies to Enjoy

The wise mother knows best not to tamper with the natural sweetness of fruits. Strawberries and bananas are a perfect combination for recipes for smoothies. Each taken by itself is healthy enough, but taken together makes it more enjoyable and twice healthier.

The red fruit is an excellent source of vitamin C, phytonutrients and antioxidants which fight free radicals (and is also said to be the main component as to why a strawberry is red). Strawberries are also a great way to get several nutrients and vitamins in your daily diet – vitamin K, manganese, folic acid, vitamin B5, riboflavin, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids and potassium among others.

The yellow fruit may always be associated with our Darwinian counterparts, but that’s not the only reason why we should go gaga over it too. Bananas are also known to be a gym-goer’s best friend – the 3 natural sugars (sucrose, fructose and glucose) plus fiber makes this fruit a great energy booster. For depressed people, a banana can also be a good pick-up mood enhancer as it contains tryptophan – a protein that easily converts into serotonin, a “happy” neurotransmitter that makes you feel relaxed and happier.

Since both fruits are easily perishable (unless frozen for a couple of days), it seems only natural to use them for a recipe that’s quite easy to prepare and one that’s so good that even kids won’t mind eating them. Smoothies come in handy at times like these.

Here, we list five tried-and-tested smoothie recipes. Enjoy making them!
